PETALING JAYA: The Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines (CAAP) today said Philippines AirAsia has settled its outstanding obligations to the aviation regulator ahead of a June 6 deadline.

Several Filipino media outlets yesterday reported that CAAP ordered the budget carrier to halt operations at all government-run airports, claiming it had not paid over 271 million pesos (RM17.5 million) in air navigation, landing, parking and passenger service charges from 2021 to May 2026.

“CAAP acknowledges and appreciates the airline’s cooperation and its commitment to addressing its obligations through constructive engagement and coordination with CAAP,” it said in a statement, the state-run Philippine News Agency reported.

AirAsia Group today said reports claiming that flights operated by Philippines AirAsia have been grounded were part of a coordinated smear campaign aimed at undermining fair competition in the Philippine aviation sector.

The airline said all of its flights in the Philippines remain fully operational, with services continuing as scheduled across the network, subject to normal operational factors such as weather and other standard considerations.
