BANGKOK: A Russian woman died in a collision between a tourist boat and a fishing trawler off the coast of Thailand on Sunday, which also injured 21 people, the Russian Consulate General in the city of Phuket told RIA Novosti.
The Thai Rath newspaper reported that 18-year-old Russian citizen Elizaveta Starykh died in the collision.
“Unfortunately, the death of the Russian woman has been confirmed. We are clarifying information regarding the other injured individuals,” Russian Consul General Egor Ivanov said.
According to the Phuket provincial administration, the collision occurred near the Phi Phi Islands at around 9.00am local time (02.00 GMT) on Sunday.

Preliminary investigations confirmed the speedboat was occupied by 50 tourists, one Thai guide, one foreign guide, and three crew members.
